🔒 Your Privacy Matters

Privacy Policy

Bounce Connect is built on a simple promise: your personal data stays between your devices. No servers. No surveillance. No surprises.

Effective Date: March 5, 2026
📵

No Cloud Servers

All data transfers happen directly over your local Wi-Fi network. Nothing touches our servers.

🔐

End-to-End Encrypted

Every message, file, and notification is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before leaving your device.

🚫

Zero Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or sell any personal data. Ever.

1

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Bounce Connect ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information in connection with your use of:

  • Bounce Connect — the macOS application
  • Bounce Companion — the Android companion application
  • Our website at bounceconnect.app

By using Bounce Connect or Bounce Companion, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the apps.

2

Data We Do Not Collect

We want to be crystal clear about what we never collect, store, or transmit to any external server:

  • Your SMS messages or conversation history
  • Your contacts, phone numbers, or address book
  • Your call logs, call durations, or caller identities
  • Your notifications or their contents
  • Files you transfer between your Mac and Android
  • Your clipboard contents
  • Your device's location or IP address
  • Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
  • Analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics

✅ All communication is strictly peer-to-peer over your local Wi-Fi network. No Bounce Connect infrastructure ever sees or touches your data.

3

How the Apps Work & What Stays Local

Bounce Connect operates entirely within your local network. Here is what happens when you use specific features:

SMS & Messaging: Messages are read from your Android device's SMS database and forwarded directly to your Mac over an encrypted local socket. They are never routed through the internet or any third-party service.

Call Management: Incoming call metadata (caller name, number) is forwarded from your Android to your Mac in real-time over the local connection. No call audio is ever transmitted.

Notifications: App notification content is mirrored from Android to macOS over the encrypted local connection. Notifications exist only in memory and are never written to disk on the Mac beyond macOS's own Notification Center.

File Transfer: Files are transferred directly over Wi-Fi between your two devices with no intermediate server. Received files are saved to your Mac's local Downloads folder.

Contacts Sync: Your Android contacts are loaded into the Mac app's memory at runtime to resolve names for calls and SMS. They are not persisted to any external database or file.

Clipboard: Clipboard content is shared directly between the two apps over the encrypted connection when you explicitly trigger the sync. Content is never logged.

Call Log Sync: Your Android call history (caller names, numbers, durations, and timestamps) is synced to the Mac app for display in the call log view. This data is held in memory for the current session and is never written to disk or transmitted beyond your local network.

🔒 All data channels between the Mac app and Android companion are secured with AES-256-GCM encryption using keys established via QR code pairing — a one-time physical handshake.

4

Permissions & Why We Need Them

Both apps request only the permissions required to function. Here is why each permission is needed:

Android – Bounce Companion:

  • READ_SMS / SEND_SMS: To read and forward your messages to the Mac app, and to send SMS replies you compose on your Mac.
  • READ_CONTACTS: To resolve contact names for incoming calls and messages, displayed locally on your Mac.
  • READ_CALL_LOG: To sync your Android call history directly to the Mac app for display.
  • NOTIFICATION_LISTENER: To mirror Android app notifications to your Mac in real-time.
  • READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: To allow browsing your Android filesystem and transferring files to your Mac.
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE / WAKE_LOCK: To maintain the persistent connection in the background without being killed by Android's battery optimiser.
  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: To detect your current Wi-Fi network and enforce the Smart Wi-Fi Lock feature.
  • ANSWER_PHONE_CALLS: To allow you to accept or decline calls directly from your Mac.

macOS – Bounce Connect:

  • Local Network Access: Required to discover and communicate with the Android companion over your Wi-Fi network.
  • Contacts Access: Optional. Used to match incoming caller IDs against your Mac contacts list for richer caller display.
  • Notification Permission: To display incoming Android notifications as native macOS notifications.
5

Local Data Storage

Bounce Connect stores a minimal amount of data locally on your own devices:

  • Pairing keys: The cryptographic keys generated during QR code pairing are stored securely in the Android Keystore and macOS Keychain respectively. They never leave your devices.
  • App preferences: Settings such as notification filter lists, Wi-Fi lock network names, and UI preferences are stored in the app's local sandboxed storage.
  • Received files: Files received from Android are saved to your Mac's Downloads folder, just like any other file transfer.

None of this data is ever uploaded to any cloud service or transmitted beyond your local network.

6

Third-Party Services

Bounce Connect does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection SDKs. The apps contain no tracking libraries.

The only external services relevant to Bounce Connect are:

  • Apple Mac App Store / Google Play Store: Distribution platforms. Their own privacy policies apply to your account and purchase history, which is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
  • Vercel (our website host): Our marketing website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, page visited) as part of normal web hosting operations. We do not have access to or use this data for profiling or advertising.
7

Children's Privacy

Bounce Connect is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal data at all, there is no specific risk of inadvertent collection from minors.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through our website contact form, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

8

Security

Security is a core design principle of Bounce Connect, not an afterthought:

  • AES-256-GCM encryption for all data in transit between the Mac and Android app
  • QR code pairing establishes trust physically — no remote or unauthenticated access is possible
  • No cloud relay — there is no server for a third party to breach or subpoena
  • Android Keystore / macOS Keychain used for secure key storage, protected by the device's hardware security module where available
  • Zero persistent message logs on the Mac side — nothing is written to disk beyond what is explicitly displayed in the app's UI

While no system is perfectly immune to all threats, our architecture is designed so that even if a network is compromised, your data remains encrypted and unreadable to any attacker.

9

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Continued use of Bounce Connect after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with any changes, you may uninstall the app at any time.

10

Your Rights

Because Bounce Connect does not collect or store your personal data on any of our servers, there is no user profile for us to access, modify, or delete on your behalf.

All data generated by using Bounce Connect resides solely on your own devices. You retain full control:

  • Uninstalling the app immediately severs all connections and removes all locally stored preferences
  • You can revoke any device permission at any time through your device's system Settings
  • Deleting the app from your Mac or Android device removes all associated local data

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR. Since we do not process any personal data, a formal Data Subject Access Request is unlikely to yield any results — but you are always welcome to contact us if you have questions.

11

No Advertising & No Data Selling

Bounce Connect contains zero advertising. There are no banner ads, video ads, sponsored content, or any form of in-app advertising inside either the Mac or Android application.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose. This applies to all data processed by the app — including your contacts, messages, call logs, and files — none of which we ever have access to in the first place.

✅ Bounce Connect generates revenue exclusively through a one-time app purchase. Your data is not and never will be our product.

12

Data Retention

Because Bounce Connect does not collect or store any personal data on external servers, there is no user data for us to retain or delete on our end.

All data processed by the app exists exclusively on your own devices:

  • In-memory data (contacts, notifications, call log displayed in the app) is cleared automatically when the app is closed or the connection is terminated.
  • Pairing keys stored in the Android Keystore and macOS Keychain persist until you explicitly unpair the devices, at which point they are permanently deleted.
  • App preferences (filter settings, Wi-Fi lock settings) persist until you uninstall the app.
  • Received files are saved to your Mac's Downloads folder and are subject to your own file management — we do not retain copies.

You are in full control of retention. Uninstalling the app removes all associated local data from your device immediately.

13

Data Breach Notification

Given that Bounce Connect operates entirely on your local network and does not store personal data on any server, a traditional data breach scenario (where a server is hacked and user data is stolen) is structurally not possible.

There is no central database of user information to be breached. Your data never leaves your devices in an unencrypted form and is never stored by us.

However, in the unlikely event that we discover a security vulnerability in the app itself that could affect your privacy, we commit to:

  • Releasing a security patch as quickly as possible
  • Notifying users through the app's update notes and, where possible, direct communication
  • Being fully transparent about the nature of the vulnerability and the steps taken to resolve it
14

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. As Bounce Connect is an independently developed application distributed globally through the Apple Mac App Store and Google Play Store, users in different jurisdictions may have additional rights under their local laws.

We are committed to respecting privacy rights globally, including but not limited to:

  • GDPR (EU/EEA): General Data Protection Regulation — we confirm we do not process personal data, so GDPR obligations around data processing are not applicable. However, we fully respect the spirit of the GDPR.
  • CCPA (California, USA): California Consumer Privacy Act — we do not sell personal information. California residents have no need to opt out as no data collection occurs.
  • COPPA (USA): Children's Online Privacy Protection Act — we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

If you have specific privacy concerns based on your jurisdiction, please contact us at zurgteaminc@gmail.com and we will do our best to address them promptly.
